Rooted in This Community

Some Places You Know in Your Bones

I grew up in Westfield, Indiana, just a few miles east of Zionsville on the other side of US-421. My uncle lived right across the street from Azionaqua Swim Club, and summers there had a rhythm that's hard to put into words. The neighborhood, the kids from around the block, the way that part of town felt like everyone genuinely knew each other. It shaped how I think about community, about trust, and about what it means to serve people well.

I learned to play golf working the fairways at Zionsville Golf Course and spent more rounds than I can count at Hickory Bend. Later, I had the privilege of watching collegiate players compete at the old Wolf Run Golf Club. It was a course that carried a quiet distinction, the kind that never needed to announce itself.

And that is exactly what Zionsville has done right. While neighboring communities expanded rapidly and traded their character for strip malls and big-box anchors, Zionsville made a different choice. The historic brick streetscape on Main Street is still intact. The boutique shops and local restaurants are still there. The town decided what kind of place it wanted to be, and it held that line.

That same philosophy, building carefully, knowing what matters, and refusing to compromise your values for short-term convenience, is how I believe wealth should be managed.

Who We Serve

Zionsville Has Thriving, Complex Financial Lives. We Are Built for That.

The professionals, families, and business owners in Zionsville have worked hard to build something meaningful. Many face financial situations that go well beyond what a general-practice advisor is equipped to handle.

01

Business Owners

Planning a business sale, ownership transition, or succession? We coordinate the financial, tax, and estate dimensions of a business exit so you capture the full value of what you've built.

02

Dual-Income Professionals

High-earning households managing equity compensation, concentrated stock positions, and rising tax burdens need a coordinated strategy. A one-size-fits-all portfolio rarely gets the job done.

03

Families Building a Legacy

From estate planning and wealth transfer to charitable giving structures and next-generation financial education, we help families turn wealth into something that lasts.

04

Pre-Retirees

The five to ten years before retirement are often the most financially consequential. We help you build a coordinated income, tax, and estate plan before you step away from your career.

05

Real Estate Investors

We provide guidance on 1031 exchanges, Delaware Statutory Trusts, and other tax-deferral strategies for investors looking to build or rebalance real estate holdings efficiently.

06

Investment Universe

Beyond public markets. Qualified clients may access institutional private market strategies.

The Olympus Difference

Institutional Access. Personal Service.

Most financial advisors in Zionsville operate exclusively within publicly traded markets. That is where most individual investors live. But the families and business owners who have built substantial wealth often need something broader, a coordinated strategy that connects investment decisions to tax planning, estate goals, and access to the kinds of opportunities that large endowments and pension funds have used for decades.

At Olympus, through our institutional relationships and the Uptick RIA network, qualified clients may have access to certain private market strategies not available through typical retail advisory channels.

Talk to John About Your Options
01

Private Market Strategies

Through the Uptick RIA network, qualified clients may access private market strategies across asset classes that do not trade on public exchanges. These opportunities have historically been reserved for institutions and large family offices.

02

Alternative Investment Categories

For eligible clients, we explore alternative investment categories that may offer differentiated risk and return characteristics compared to traditional public market portfolios. Suitability depends on your individual financial situation.

03

Fully Coordinated Planning

Every investment decision connects to your tax plan, estate plan, and retirement income strategy. Nothing is managed in a silo. That coordination is what separates a wealth management practice from a basic investment account.

Access to private markets and alternative investments is subject to eligibility requirements including accredited investor standards. These investments involve unique risks including illiquidity and are not appropriate for all investors. Discuss your specific situation with an advisor before making any investment decisions.

Know What You're Getting

Zionsville Has Great Advisors. Here Is How to Tell Them Apart.

Zionsville has no shortage of well-regarded advisory options. We respect that. What we think matters most is that you understand the structural differences between advisor types before you make a decision, because those differences affect how your advisor is compensated, whose interests they serve, and what they can actually offer you.

Common Questions

Questions Zionsville Residents Ask About Financial Advisors

What is the average fee to pay a financial advisor?

Fee structures vary significantly depending on the advisor type and services provided. At Olympus Wealth Strategies, our compensation is based on a percentage of assets under management. The specific percentage varies by portfolio size and is fully disclosed in our Form ADV. We do not charge commissions on product sales. Always ask any advisor, including us, for written fee disclosure before engaging.

Is $250,000 enough to work with a financial advisor in Zionsville?

$250,000 in investable assets is a meaningful starting point, and many independent advisory firms, including Olympus, work with clients at or around that level depending on the complexity of the situation. The right time to engage a financial advisor is often earlier than people think, particularly when you have equity compensation, a growing business, or a major life transition on the horizon. We encourage you to reach out and have a direct conversation about your situation before assuming you don't qualify.

What is a red flag when choosing a financial advisor?

Several warning signs are worth watching for: an advisor who cannot clearly explain how they are compensated; one who is unable or unwilling to confirm fiduciary status in writing; recommendations that seem to benefit the advisor more than you; pressure to act quickly on investment decisions; and a lack of transparency around conflicts of interest. A fiduciary advisor is required to disclose conflicts in their Form ADV. Always ask for it.

Is a CPA better than a financial advisor?

A CPA and a financial advisor serve different but complementary roles. A CPA's primary focus is tax compliance and preparation. A CFP®-credentialed financial advisor focuses on comprehensive financial planning: investments, retirement, estate, insurance, and tax strategy. At Olympus, we incorporate proactive tax planning into our wealth management process and coordinate directly with your CPA, so both disciplines work together rather than in silos.

How many retirees have a net worth of $1,000,000 or more?

According to Federal Reserve data, approximately 10% of U.S. households have a net worth of $1 million or more as of recent surveys, though this figure varies by age cohort. Retired households age 65 and older skew meaningfully higher. In affluent communities like Zionsville, the share of households approaching or exceeding that threshold is substantially above the national average. Having accumulated significant wealth is precisely when coordinated wealth management, not just investment management, becomes most valuable.
