A Parent’s Guide to the $1,000 Treasury “Trump Accounts”

503A accounts also known as “Trump Accounts” are a new, federally established, tax-advantaged investment account created to help families build long-term financial security for children.

The program provides a one-time $1,000 seed contribution from the U.S. Treasury to eligible children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028.

Parents, guardians, and other contributors can add to the account, which is invested in low-cost broad U.S. equity index funds and controlled by an adult until the child turns 18.

This whitepaper explains eligibility, enrollment, tax and contribution rules, how accounts are structured and treated, investment options, and strategic considerations for families.
