Big IPOs don’t test the company.
They test investor behavior.
With SpaceX scheduled to IPO this Friday here are some helpful tips to avoid any day-of frustrations if you decide to buy.
1) Your cash position.
You need cleared cash. Make sure to place trades ahead of time or transfer money into your account.
2) Your order type.
Most custodians require limit orders the first day of an IPO. Volatility of a newly traded stock, especially with this much hype around it, will be the norm for a while.
3) You are not trading fundamentals.
You’re trading imbalance and emotion.
And for the “will it go into the S&P 500?” yes, potentially over time. But index inclusion isn’t about hype or market cap alone. It requires quarter-over-quarter profitability and being publicly listed for at least a year. The fastest this could happen is mid 2027.
